»The Registration Option of the German Civil Law Partnership«: Registration with the new civil law partnership register is essentially optional. In order to ensure greater transparency and reliability in legal transactions, the German lawmaker has limited this registration option for civil law partnership both at the level of substantive law and at the level of register procedure law by means of a system of positive incentives with a partial de facto obligation to register, thereby breaking new ground in terms of regulatory technology.
