»Behavioural Policy through the Application of Nudging. Constitutional Requirements for the Governemental use of Nudges in Germany«: In the complex system of state regulation, government authorities draw on findings from behavioural science in order to predict human behaviour more precisely and influence it in a more targeted manner. This is known as Behavioural public policy. One instrument that is the subject of controversial debate is the use of ›nudging‹ by public authorities. This thesis examines how this means of influencing behaviour is compatible with the German Basic Law, in particular how fundamental rights can provide legal protection for the freedom of thought.
