Blocking statutes attempt to limit the effects of foreign laws on national territory. In this dissertation, the author examines the actual consequences of such blocking statutes to determine whether they can achieve these objectives. In particular, Marcel Gernert focuses on the conflict situations of the private companies concerned, which find themselves caught between the conflicting laws of two states.
