Buckley the Yowie has lived in Australia since time began. He is immortal, loveable, magical, but mistaken and misjudged by the Aboriginal people. In the early 1800s he meets and befriends an escaped convict called William Buckley. They learn much from each other and eventually the Yowie takes William's last name as his own and becomes Buckley. After 30 years with the Aborigines, William returns to his own people. Buckley, alone again, goes on Walkabout for the remainder of the century, eventually settling in Kilcoy, Queensland, and becoming part of the Taylor family.
