This is a translated collection of essays by a leading German economic historian on nineteenth and twentieth century Germany up to recent times. Though the articles were published originally in a variety of places, the issues dealt with are connected: economic growth, fluctuations, structural change, changes in socio-economic institutions and in the economic system as a whole, all in interaction with other historical phenomena.
