»Mandatory Retirement Age«: This thesis examines the origin and development of the mandatory retirement age in Germany from a historical perspective regarding legislation and case law. The findings of this study open the possibility to re-evaluate mandatory retirement age through the lens of anti-discrimination law. The author concludes that a mandatory retirement age in general is unconstitutional and in addition discriminatory under European law.
