When cross-dressing artist Shelly Byrne and muscular author Margot Bernard find that the NYC market for their work is drying up, they buy an old pickup and head south. In Jacksonville, Florida, they rent a house near the St. Johns River, set up their studios, and with a fresh sense of their creativity continue to paint and to write. But when they are threatened, first by a mysteriously hired gunman, then by an ex-husband, they are jolted from their peaceful creativity and forced to answer the hard question: can the artist or writer create without peace?
