Every day in the jungle, the singing parrot, Polly Dardon, sits atop her tree, singing the most beautiful songs for all the jungle animals to hear. The happy animals gather beneath her tree, smiling, clapping, and enjoying her beautiful singing. But one animal in the group, Charlie the chimp, isn't happy. He never laughs or talks, and he never responds to Polly's singing. But why? Her singing is so moving, so touching, that it brings tears to the eyes of the other jungle animals. But not Charlie. Charlie remains unmoved and unresponsive. One day, Polly and the other animals decide to confront Charlie and ask him what is problem is. Charlie just grins sheepishly and scratches his ear.
